Grand Master Sutherland’s Martial Arts
GMSMA Bathgate are the longest running martial gym in West Lothian, and have over 45 years of experience providing the best possible martial arts and fitness training in a fun and safe environment.
All the instructors are certified black belts, qualified, and professionally trained to teach martial art and the classes are tailored for all ages and levels of fitness, from their popular kid’s martial arts classes through to their Adult Beginner and Ladies Only Classes. GMSMA cater for everyone from the complete beginner to World Champion.
In the kids classes they promote respect, good behaviour, and listening skills as well as developing core skills like balance, coordination, memory, control and much more and they can help children develop high levels of physical fitness, confidence, alertness, a positive attitude, respect, discipline and leadership skills.
As well as the physical improvements from training, martial arts also helps to builds mental strength, helping you manage stress and reduce tension. Building confidence as you learn self defence.
My son has been attending Little Ninjas for about a year and a half now and he absolutely loves it. We can see him growing in confidence & becoming more outgoing all the time. The instructors & assistants are second to none. They show patience and respect to every single student- no matter what age. They pull out all the stops to make the kids feel comfortable in the environment. After seeing my sons confidence grow & how much he enjoys the classes I was inspired to give kickboxing a go. At 43yrs old I never thought for a minute I’d begin this journey. I’ve now been going since January - even through lock down the online support was amazing! I love these classes and enjoy learning new skills and have met some great people!

My family and I received a very warm welcome at the club. The instructors conduct themselves in a great professional manner. I have always found this club to have a really nice atmosphere and they focus on every individual so they can achieve their goals to reach their potential. My daughter would never have went back to kickboxing again if I hadn’t chosen this club and now I can see how much she enjoys her trainings.
